Writhlington Recording Studios 2011
Think of Radstock and you might not think of great recording. But Writhlington Studios (under Dan Harper) is a brand new professional Digidesign Pro Tools HD studio (I copied that from the leaflet) in Radstock (www.writhlingtonstudios.co.uk). We arrived Saturday to lay 11 'live' tracks - we wanted to sound how we sound live, not how you sound filtered, mixed, mashed and mastered after three months in the dark. By the end of Sunday it was all over and we could return home to slippers, tea and crumpets. Thanks to Dan we have 11 authentic tracks on our new CD 'Hard Time$' - coming out in a pub near you soon. All the tracks you hear on this website were recorded 'LIVE' at Writhlington - that is we stood in a room together and played as a band - just like we do live.
The "Live @ Wellow" Session 2008
One hot night in May 08, two mikes and an AppleMac and five guys in a village hall ready to rock. This is a hot and ready mix redorded live by Nick Bealey (Engineer) www.kaytosound.com This is the last recording with Macca playing drums before he left at the end of the year.
The Riverside Session 2005
We arrived at Riverside the day after Robert Plant had finished recording Mighty Rearranger. The buzz of Plant was still in the air as our gear was miked up and levels balanced. It was in the early evening that we finally kicked in. We exploded into 'Low Down and Dirty' laying down the initial track in one take. As the clock ticked on we laid down 'Help Me' in the final hour with Roni adding his harp as we did the final mix.
The Cheese and Grain, Frome is a great venue and the sound pretty good considering we simply used two mics connected to a 4 track unit. These are the last two numbers of the night - Stuck in the Middle an old Stealers Wheel classic whilst Working for a Living, our final number is a classic from Huey Lewis. All these tracks featured Chris Paul on vocals, harp & rhythmn guitar and Tony House on drums.
